Untitled (An Arctic Bronze)

Yellow-toned b/w photograph of Inuit woman appropriated from American explorer Robert E. Peary’s 1898 book Northward over the “Great Ice”. Peary took the photo himself and titled it “An Arctic Bronze” in his book. The photograph is most likely a test print for Pia Arke’s photo montage Arctic Hysteria alias Arctic Hysteria IV (1997)
